So I got on today to post my great shopping deal for this week (which I must say was one of my best yet!), and I decided that this blog is my Family blog- about us and mostly Deegan, so maybe some of you are tired of hearing my shopping deals, and would rather skip that! So I made a new blog that will be filled with all of my great shopping trips and some tips as to how you can be a great shopper too! So, for those of you who enjoy hearing about it, and maybe even are interested in learning how I do it, Check it out! http://shoppingtripsandtips.blogspot.com/
For those of you who don't- I won't bore you anymore with that and you can just see how my sweet little boy is doing instead!

Snow day and another great deal!

So, like I said, we got a ton of snow on Monday. Well, Deegan and I got tired of being stuck inside, so I bundled him up and took him out to play. He hasn't gotten to play in the snow before Monday because I can NOT find snow clothes small enough. I just finally decided, too bad- we'll make do with what we have ( 1 pair of size 7 snow boots, 1 pair of wind pants, 1 pair of jeans, 2 pairs of socks, a onesie, a tee shirt, a hoodie, a coat and a light weight pair of gloves! It worked out great except that his hands were soaked immediately. He loved it and Adam took him out yesterday afternoon on the snow tube that we got for Christmas. We have a small retaining wall between the firepit area and our "orchard", so he built a hill down that and went sledding. They both had SO much fun! I didn't get pics of the sleddin, but I did get some of my Stay Puff Marshmallow!

So here's my great deal for yesterday-$12 for 30 bottles of suave shampoo and conditioner and 2 bags of chocolate chips. That makes the shampoo/conditioners about $0.30 each! What a deal... I figure, the conditioners ( which they had a lot more of than shampoos) are good to use for shaving creams!

So Long Spring, and something fun to do with $50!

So I was so excited to say good bye to all of the snow that quickly melted off of my driveway, lawn and deck. It has been great because Turk can run around outside all day and get his energy out, Deegan and I have been able to take a few walks, and we are comfortable with out coats when we go out! Well, this morning, Adam woke me up as he left for work, telling me that we got about 8 inches of snow last night. When I got out of bed a couple hours later, I looked outside and was reminded of the snow. His foot prints were completely covered. There was no sign of any life outside. I opened the back door to let Turk out, and found that the snow was about 15 inches deep! (Poor Turk walked right into it not knowing how deep it was and nearly drowned himself in snow!) SO I decded I'd better get out and clear a path to the yard for him. Here's what it looked like at about 8:00 this morning, but it is still snowing....

So I guess I am saying so long to spring for a little while longer instead of winter!

Anyway, yesterday (I know I shouldn't have been shopping on Sunday, but I couldn't pass it up!) I went to Walgreens for a really great deal on Huggies Diapers... Ok, so it's not the MOST fun thing to do with $50, but I get pretty excited :-) Anyway, I spend a little over $50, and got 12 packs of 30-40 Huggies diapers. Unfotunately the Gentle Care (Size 1 and 2) were cheaper than the 4's, so I stocked up on those too. I figure they make great gifts, or one day I'll use them for the next baby! Too good of a deal to pass up! (the picture is kind of blurry- I was using my phone, and had to act fast because this was a really fun pile of diapers for Deegan to climb all over!)

Concert-You are invited!

So we went to this concert about a month ago and had a lot of fun. The guy's name is Griffin House, and some of his music is on my playlist below if you want to hear it. Anyway, it was in this hole in the wall venue, and we really were a little unsure about it, but we had so much fun! Well, they are coming again to the same venue (Kilby Court in SLC) on April 1st, and we are going. Anyone interested in a night out and some good music is welcome to come with us! We'd love to have you come! Tickets are like $8 or $10 (I don't remember- but cheap). Let me know if you want to go with us.

Mr. Right

For anyone who is looking for Mr. Right, you are going to have to settle for Mr. Almost Right, because I have him already! I just have to tell you what a wonderful husband I have! He is such a sweetheart and is always looking out for what is best for ME.

For those of you who don't already know the story, here it is... When Adam and I met, it was at a mission prep Christmas party, and I talked to him for a whole probably 1 minnute! He found my number about a month later and called me to invite me to go skiing with a group of people. The night he called I had just returned from visiting my boyfriend in Colorado. I was hesitant because I didn't even remember him and I had a boyfriend, so I said I'd see if I was busy or not and call him back (meaning, I'll come up with an excuse and call you back!) I asked my friend Heidi who he was and she convinced me that I should go. Of course, my family was all anxious to have me go, but at that point, their opinion didn't count because I knew it was just because the didn't like my boyfriend. I ended up going, and all of Adam's friends had things come up except for his buddy Tyler and Tyler's little brother. When Adam picked me up, my WHOLE family was up and dressed and sitting in the living room ready to meet him. My mom had even had time to make muffins :-) So it was the 4 of us... after a couple of runs, it seemed like I kept having to dodge the fact that I had a boyfriend, so I finally told Adam. He was pretty disappointed for the rest of the day, but we had fun and he didn't show the disappointment. From there, we started hanging out like 3-5 times a week. We went to church together and really had alot of fun together, but I kept thinking what a great best friend he would make. (Never making the connection that Husband=Best Friend). I continued "dating" the guy in Colorado, until the week before my birthday in April. Adam called me at work and said he wanted to hang out, get some ice cream and just TALK. That word scared me beyond belief because I knew what was coming, but I agreed and we went out that night for ice cream. The drive back to the house was... well, it was silent to start with. Then all of a sudden, with out even looking at me, he said "I know you have a boyfriend but...." I stopped him and said, "I'm sorry, but I'm going to marry him Adam." He told me that he was going to stop going to institute with me and start going to another ward because he was only doing those things to be with me. We spent the next couple hours just talking about things. He told me that he hoped things worked out with the other boyfriend, but that quite often people will either agree to get baptised or will actually join the church, just for their spouse, but then they fall away. I thought about that the whole way home and immediately when I got home I called my boyfriend and before he had a chance to say hi, I blurted out "Are you EVER going to be mormon?" Really, I had no intentions of breaking up, just wanted to discuss my frustration, but his answer was "Katie, I'm tired of this, let's just break up". I spent the next probably day and a half bawling my eyes out, and swore I wouldn't be dating for atleast another year (but in the back of my mind I figured I'd date Adam when I did start dating)! Exactly one week later was my birthday, and Keli had already invited Adam over, so he came regardless of our conversation. He brought a bouquet of Calla Lillies (which I had never outwardly told him were my favorite flower, he just over heard it once) and a giant pop-up card that he made from cardboard.

It was the sweetest thing ever. I still was hesitant to tell him that I had broken up with the boyfriend though, so I waited about another week. When I told him, he said "so does that mean that we can date now then?" I said yes, and we ended up kissing that night. About a week and a half later he told me "I think I more than like you". That REALLY scared me, and I told him that he really didn't know alot of things about me. I told him everything I could think of that would probably scare him away (things that I had mentioned to the old boyfriend nad had made him angry), and he didn't care about any of it and said he liked me the way I was! I just told him he needed to get to know me better and that was it. Just a few days later, after having time to think about it, I told him the same thing, he said "I love you" and we decided to get married ( after 2 weeks of dating!).

It has been the BEST 4 years EVER! I have never known a guy who treats women so well and with such respect! So many times people tell me what a great husband I have, and all I can do is smile and say "I know, isn't he wonderful?"

Anyway, I have to admit, I was wrong and my friends and family were all right when they said he was the one for me, because he truly is, and I love him more and more each day!

Happy Valentines Day!

Christmas and Birthday recap

It's been a little crazy these days, so I'm a bit behind on my blogging, so here is a quick recap of the last few weeks. We had lots of fun for Christmas, starting with the Powell Family Christmas Eve. We had the whole family there, and played a few games. One of them was that we each had to pick a paper from a basket with soomething to do written on it. Some of the things were little Christmas stories to read, others were songs to sing/play. Adam's mom has these little pipe things that each play a different note when you hit them on something, so we played songs with those. Blake was excited when he drew the paper to sing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" because he got to sing the part about Figgy Pudding!

The boys all sang Silent Night.

It was alot of fun!

For Christmas day, we kind of bounced around a lot. We had stayed the night at Adam's parent's house, so we got up at about 6 and opened our presents to eachother, and to Deegan, then headed to my mom and dad's house for family presents there. When we got there, everyone was up playing Keli's new Rock Band, so we joined in. It was alot of fun. When I went in and heard them singing, I swore I was not going to sing because you sound terrible when you are trying to follow it, but I ended up really liking the singing part, and usually did that when I played! We opened presents there and hung out for about an hour or 2, and then were right back to the Powell's for family presents and a second breakfast. Then after a couple more hours, headed back to the Jorgensen's for to spend the day and hang out until we were going to go home. We ended up deciding to stay one more night so that we wouldn't be driving in the storm, and of course, the storm decided to wait with us and came the next morning when we were trying to get back for me to go to work! We celebrated Adam and Deegan's Birthday on New Years Eve with Adam's parents and then a couple weeks later with my family. Deegan wasn't sure what to do with the whole cake, so I meant to help him by putting his face in it a little, but ended up covering his face (mostly eyes) with frosting... He didn't eat a bite of it, but he was happy to open presents right after.

New Year

Okay, so I haven't even gotten my Christmas updates done yet, but I'm going to jump ahead to the New Year. I have decided that I really need to get things together for Baby Emblems, since I am basically paying for my website and products to sit and no one to know about them! So, since it is the beginning of a new year, it's a good time to start some fun monthly contests to get the word out. Check out my Baby Emblems blog to see what the contest is for the month of January, and then keep checking back because I will do short term contests once in a while too!

Learning to Love Turk

So Deegan and Turk haven't really been getting along so hot until the last few days. Turk would jump on Deegan and Deegan would cry, the Deegan would get curious and go climb on Turk and Turk would cry... it was fun! Anyway, they have started learning to tollerate eachother a little better now, and it's almost like they don't even know eachother is there now! One day, they will love eachother but for now, they can "nothing" eachother and that will be good too!

My New Puppy

Last night we went and got a Puggle puppy (He's a Beagle and Pug mix). He is so cute! His name is Turk Turkleton (from the show Scrubs), but we just call him Turk. He's about 2 months old. Deegan was a little jealous last night when we were holding the puppy, not him, but now, he just thinks it's funny to see the puppy.
He sat and watched Turk eat this morning, and he kept laughing at him. I think it scared Turk because he ran into his bed and hid in the corner. It's so sad to see him right now, becuase he just is acting depressed... He will get used to being here though. Anyway, here's some pics. I got some really cute ones last night on my phone, but I can't figure out how to put them on the computer, so these will have to do for now!

Down on the Farm

So, I guess I live in a more rural area than I realized... the other day, I got home from running errands and saw something moving near my front door, so I figured it was the neighbor's cat. I was wrong. I walked closer to my door to find that my flower bed had been torn up and strewn all over my sidewalk, and there was a chicken at my doorstep. As I got closer, 2 others walked out of my window well (it has little steps down into it), and one other came around the corner of my house. They hung out there for a while. I'm not sure whose they are, but quite a few of my neighbors have chickens. Huh, who knew!

Random Pics From the summer...

I was thinking this morning... it's silly to try and "catch up". No one really cares about what I did 4 months ago! I think that's why I was so good aboout writing in my journal for so many years. I felt guilty if I missed a day or two! Oh well, I'm a little nuts... I know! (and probably really OCD)

Anyway, here's some fun pics that I kept wanting to post and never did. I won't bore you with stories.

Oh Deer!

So I went to put Deegan in his highchair the other morning for breakfast, and glanced out the back window to see this...

They hung out eating my apples for a little while, until I tried to open the door quietly to take clearer pictures. Then they just walked out the back gate like it was their own.
I thought is was kinda cool. We've left the gate open ever since, in hopes that they come back.
