Finally Feeling ok!

Okay, so I know I haven't been blogging much lately, but for those of you who don't know, we are having a baby in May! I have been pretty sick and just feeling crappy, so I haven't had the energy to do much other than lay around the house! A couple weeks ago I decided that this wasn't going to work because I still have to be a mom and a wife, and my house was falling apart! :-) So, I called and got a prescription for Zofran to help with my nausea and it has worked wonders!! I can finally be a normal person again, hooray! Anyway, right after I found out we were pregnant (before I had even told my family), I created a new blog. AdamKatieandFamily.blogspot.com I will be using this blog from now on, so add it to your blog list!

More Summer Fun and birthday parties!

WOW- Okay, so I uploaded these pictures like a month ago, but lost my energy to write anything about them. So, here are a few pics from the end of summer. Keli and I made apricot and raspberry jam, and applesauce, and Deegan loved helping!

Helping water our sad little garden.
Loving the "burbries" (raspberries)
I got to go visit my best friends from high school (Tiffany and Brittany). We went to Ikea with the kiddos.
Cullen and Mom's birthday party
Our friends Garrett and Emily-
We had an Elder's Quorum party at the Beaver Creek Lodge (one of the guys in the ward owns it).

We went horseback riding, and it was lots of fun. Since we arrived late the 4 of us got a private tour! It was pretty much a new experience to all of us because those of us who had ridden before, did so a very long time ago. My horse's name was Pegasus, he was nice. Emily's horse was very not nice. He kept trying to run and didn't want to behave, but we made it okay, and will probably go back next year!

The times they are a changing

Well, life is about to get a little bit more hectic at the Powell house! Last week (on the last possible day for registration) I decided to go back to school to become a nurse. Since I have been going to school for ever and have completed my Associate's Degree, I have all of the prerequisites except for the anatomy and physiology courses and a nutrition course. So I had to make a quick decision since those classes have to be taken over 2 semesters, and the nursing program starts each fall: Do I hurry and start today (a week late) or hold off and add another year to the time it will take to complete the program? Of course, the faster the better, so I decided to jump right in! It was a bit chaotic last week, but I am finally almost caught up to where I should be. I took my first test today and got an 86%. Not bad for last minute cramming! Even though I have only been out of school for a year and a half, it is SO weird to go back. I walked the campus today, and the kids there all looked SO YOUNG! I'm not that old!! I feel like I've been out of it forever! Oh well, I guess that's ok. Assuming I go straight through the program with no stops, I will be finished with my RN in 3 years. I'm so excited!

A Month in Review

Well, I got so busy getting ready for the craft show, that I haven't taken the time to do much blogging. I have found that once I get behind, it is hard for me to make time to catch up, so here it is...

For the 4th of July, I had to work during the day, so we missed some of the festivites, but still got in the evening fun...

Keli and I decided to sell glow necklaces to help fund our craft show, so the whole family pitched in and helped... and Baleigh was the best little sales girl I have ever seen. She'd roam the area yelling "glow necklaces, get your glow necklaces. 2 for $3!" It was cute and very effective too! Deegan of course loved the fireworks as much as I do.

Deegan has learned how to use headphones and so he carries Adam's ipod around when we let him and just rocks out to it! It's the cutest thing, until we are ready to put it away and he throws a fit!

Every time Adam brings Deegan to Motherhood to see me at work, he make a bee line straight to the bras and panties. For some reason (maybe because he is a boy!) he loves to take the bras and squish his face right into the middle of them! I caught him one time grabbing the bra and kind of "motor-boating" his face into it (rubbing his face side to side basically)! What a BOY!

A week after the 4th, Keli and I and 3 other friends had a "girls night" in SLC. We went to dinner with a bunch of the girls, and then the 5 of us went to SLC to stay in the hotel. It's funny how you revert back about 10 years when you get together for some free time without husbands and kids! We had a blast and ate way too much junk food!
A week later, Adam had his own "Guys night", only there were girls there- just not me... Sad huh? :-) jk I had other things I needed to do for the weekend, so he and his brother, Kyle went to visit Kyle's friend in Moscow, ID and to see Josh Ritter in concert. All the other friends there had wives there, so I was kinda sad to miss it, but- maybe next year we'll all go. We saw Josh Ritter last summer as well, in SLC, and had a lot of fun. Adam even got his debit card signed (See Last year's Post ) Well, this time, while Adam waited for the show to start, he saw Josh Ritter walking across the field where they were sitting. He decided to run up and see if he would sign the new debit card (also a Josh Ritter card) and a poster. He was more than happy to, and even helped Adam search for a sharpie from other people around. Adam was really excited and had a ton of fun!

Deegan has started pulling at the bottom of his diaper and saying "uh, uh, uh!" with a disgusted look on his face anytime he wets his diaper. So, I decided maybe I'd give the potty training thing a shot. I was not too thrilled about it really, because I really thought I'd be wasting my time this soon, but he has done pretty well. I've been really lazy this week, and haven't made him go since like last Tuesday, but tomorrow I'll get back to it. (I'm going to work in a few) The week before that he was doin really well. He had 3 days in a row where he went twice a day in the little potty chair. I got him a chair that plays music when you pee in it and a bag of Dum Dum suckers. He's loved it. Now I just need to be more consistent and maybe we'll get this done!

So Proud, he had to sit back down and show me his sucker! :-)

On Friday, my little Bro got married. I'll post more pics of them when I have them, but here are a few of the rest of us.

When did my baby become such a big boy?

Look at those handsome boys!

After the reception, Adam and I stayed at the Marriott for our 4th anniversary (which is on Wednesday 8/12) and then went to see Transformers on Saturday (finally!) and then Saturday night we went to see The Blanks (aka: "Ted's Band" from Scrubs). It was a LOT of fun. They are a very funny group of guys and also have a lot of talent. I took some videos, but they are shaky and not very clear (You can just listen to them instead). Adam's parents, brother and my brother, Steve and his wife Roxy, came and we brought Deegan too. It was a fun night and a great weekend!

Really quick post: Tutu Lane

So I have decided to start a new website with just my tutus. To be honest, I have gotten a little bored with my "Baby Emblems" for now, I may go back to it later, but for now I just want to focus on Tutus! The new website is http://www.tutulane.weebly.com/. It is not completed, but it is as complete as it can be for this week until after the craft show. Right now, I only have Toddler sizes up, but will have infant and children/adult sizes as well. Go check it out!

Summer time

I just have to say that summer time is so much more fun with Deegan being old enough to enjoy the fun kid things! It is so nice that I am home with him during the day and can play and enjoy the days together! (Last summer the closest I got to playing outside was sitting on a blanket with him next to me and a laptop on my legs while I listened in on conference call after conference call... ugh!) So, needless to say, I AM LOVING THIS! Anyway, here are a few pics to show what we've been up to the last little while....

Deegan and I made dad a Father's day card....

He LOVED painting, so I'm sure I will have more painted pictures to come in the coming weeks/months!

Yesterday we went and got Deegan a swingset. He couldn't wait to play on it, so he played on the slide...

...while we finished putting the rest together. (The instructions to these things are so vague! We had to do a lot of experimenting to make sure we had pole 4a, since it didn't have labels, or screw W2 since the diagram sizes were not accurate, but we made it out alive, and only had 3 screws that were too long and will have to be cut down :-) )

The finished Product! YAY!

:-( Deegan wouldn't come play with dad!

That's more like it! He LOVED it... he started jumping anytime Adam let his feet touch the ground! We had a lot of fun playing while we waited for our artichokes to cook! :-) Yes, we tried again!

For those of you who saw my previous post about artichokes-This is what it SHOULD look like when you have cooked the artichoke properly! They were DE-Lish!

This morning, Deegan went straight to the back door when he got up, so we all threw on some shoes and went out to play for a bit. He's learned to say bubble, so he carries his bubble wand around saying "bob-oh, bob-oh?". I've put him off enough the last few days that we decided we should go play bubbles and slide some too.
They both caught the bubble at the same time and it popped between them!
Then we picked strawberries! MMMMM! What a week- it's been great!

Memorial day

I know it's a little late, but better late than never, right? For memorial day, we went with my whole family to Fort Buena Ventura in Ogden for a picnic and a fun day of playing. They have a little area that has an old house, a trading post, a school house, and a bunch of Tee Pee's that you can go in and hang out. The kids loved them!

The kids all had bikes (except Deegan- he just got to sit on Aiden's and that was enough) and there were fun bike path's for them to ride on...

And there were PLENTY of things to climb...

Grandma and Grandpa brought giant bubble wands for everyone, so we had fun blowing bubbles. We also had Horseshoes and the Ladder Ball game. And of course, yummy lunch and tons of snacks (Keli made a VERY yummy cake, as usual!)

We even got to go canoeing.
All in all, it was a very fun day, I don't recall any disasters, and we really enjoyed having a day to spend with the family and just relax. That doesn't happen very often!
